A closer look at Joi AI
Product details, pricing, policies, and the questions that still need hands-on testing.
Joi AI is a customizable companion platform with chat, voice, character media, group chats, and conditional video calls. Its most important decision factor is not a single price: the public commercial model separates Basic access, Premium access, an optional Bot Subscription, and usage paid in Neurons.
This Research Review is based only on the current structured first-party record. CompanionScope has not completed a hands-on Scope Test of Joi AI.
What is Joi AI?
Joi AI documents realistic and anime character options, conversation, customization, voice, images, character video media, and group chat. Web access is documented. Native iOS and Android availability remains Unknown rather than unavailable.
The service is positioned for adult users and carries an 18+ requirement. Availability labels do not establish product quality, continuity, or reliability; those remain direct-test questions.
A layered access model, not one subscription
Basic access is documented at $0, but its exact usage limits are not sufficiently quantified. Premium is a separate access layer whose universal current price is not verified in the available record. An optional Bot Subscription requires Premium, and its current price is also unverified.
Neurons sit on top of those access layers as an internal usage currency. The record documents romantic messages at 4 Neurons, photos at up to 120 Neurons, and videos at up to 1,900 Neurons. Current USD prices for Neuron packs were not sufficiently verified.
This structure means a reader cannot responsibly reduce Joi AI to one monthly figure. A realistic cost depends on the selected access layers, region or promotion, the number of bots involved, purchased Neurons, and media use. True Cost status is therefore Insufficient.
Conversation, adaptation and memory
Conversation and customization are documented. Joi AI also markets adaptive personalization, but persistent long-term memory is not sufficiently established in the current record. The distinction matters: adapting a response style does not necessarily prove reliable recall across days or conversations.
A future Scope Test should separate short-session adaptation from durable factual recall. It should check whether remembered information can be reviewed or corrected and whether behavior changes across Basic, Premium, and the Bot layer.
Images, video, voice and calls
Images and voice are documented as available. Character photo and video media are also documented, while universal on-demand video generation is not sufficiently established. Video-call availability is conditional, so it should not be represented as a universal feature for every user or configuration.
Published Neuron costs show that media can consume substantially more internal currency than individual romantic messages. They do not establish output quality or a complete dollar cost because pack prices remain unknown.
Group chat and customization
Group chat is documented, adding a multi-character dimension to the product. The current research does not establish participant limits, context sharing, memory boundaries, or how the optional Bot Subscription affects those sessions.
Character customization is also documented without a hands-on measure of control depth or personality stability. These features require product testing before they can support comparative claims.
Adult-content rules are internally inconsistent
First-party material describes Neuron use for romantic, erotic, or sexually explicit messages, visual content, and adult-themed scenarios. Other first-party restrictions prohibit sexually explicit, pornographic, or adult content.
CompanionScope preserves that conflict instead of choosing the more permissive interpretation. Adult text and broader NSFW capability remain Limited and context-dependent in the structured record. This review does not describe Joi AI as unrestricted.
Privacy and data considerations
Current privacy material says text and voice messages may be collected for quality improvement and AI development. It also describes third-party providers processing content and private media needed to deliver functionality, plus analytics and advertising services.
Refund or Terms material may permit communications needed to establish transaction validity to be disclosed in chargeback or payment-dispute situations. These policy statements do not show how every data flow operates in practice, but they are relevant when deciding what sensitive information to share.
What remains unknown
The main gaps are:
- a universal current Premium price;
- the optional Bot Subscription price;
- current USD Neuron-pack prices;
- exact Basic limits and regional or promotional variation;
- durable memory behavior beyond adaptive-personalization claims;
- whether video generation is broadly available beyond documented character media;
- practical adult-content boundaries; and
- real conversation, media, group-chat, privacy, and billing behavior.
Research Review conclusion
Joi AI documents a broad companion feature set, but its commercial model requires careful separation. Free Basic access does not establish Premium cost, Premium does not include the unpriced optional Bot layer by definition, and Neuron consumption cannot be translated into dollars without verified pack prices.
The result is a useful feature and policy map, not a recommendation. A future Scope Test must reconstruct the live purchase flow, observe Neuron use, and examine memory and media behavior before CompanionScope can publish a Scope Score or comparative verdict.
