Privacy and data

Privacy Policy

This policy describes the current CompanionScope website configuration and the limited situations in which personal information may be processed.

Last updated: August 15, 2026

Who operates CompanionScope

CompanionScope is operated by Rodrigue Harnais, entrepreneur individuel (EI), at 41 avenue de Flandre, 75019 Paris, France. For the processing described in this policy, the operator is the data controller.

Privacy questions and requests can be sent to privacy@companionscope.com.

The current website configuration

CompanionScope does not currently provide or use:

  • user accounts, login, newsletters, contact forms, or other website forms;
  • first-party cookies or persistent browser storage such as localStorage or IndexedDB;
  • analytics services, marketing trackers, advertising pixels, or fingerprinting;
  • an application API or application backend that receives Finder answers.

This describes the website as currently configured. It is not a promise that the service can never change; material additions will require this policy to be reviewed and updated.

Interactive Compare

Interactive Compare can place the slugs of the two selected platforms in the page URL. Those selections may therefore remain in browser history or appear in a URL that is copied or shared. They are not currently sent to a CompanionScope application API. If a URL containing those selections is later requested from the site, the requested URL may be processed as technical request information as described below.

Companion Finder

Finder answers are currently evaluated locally in the browser and held only in the active React session state. CompanionScope does not currently persist those answers or transmit them to an application server.

Hosting and security information

CompanionScope is hosted and delivered through Cloudflare's global network. Cloudflare, Inc. acts as a hosting and technical infrastructure provider. Delivering and securing a requested page necessarily involves technical request information such as an IP address, requested URL, browser or user-agent information, date and time, routing information, and security-related request information.

The purposes of this technical processing are to deliver the requested pages, maintain the availability and security of the site, detect or prevent abuse, and investigate operational or security incidents. For processing under CompanionScope's control, the lawful basis is the legitimate interest in operating a reliable and secure website.

The operator and Cloudflare may receive this information where needed for those purposes. Information may also be disclosed to professional advisers or competent authorities where necessary and legally permitted or required.

CompanionScope has disabled Workers Observability, persistent Workers Logs, traces, and Logpush, and has not configured a Tail Worker or application analytics. This minimizes operator-accessible request records, but it does not mean that Cloudflare performs no transient or provider-level processing. Any information retained under CompanionScope's control will be limited according to the time needed to investigate an active operational or security incident, resolve a dispute, or meet a legal obligation. Cloudflare's own processing and retention are governed by its applicable service and privacy terms.

Cloudflare network error reporting

Production responses currently include Cloudflare Network Error Logging (NEL) and Report-To headers. A compatible browser may use them to send a report directly to a Cloudflare endpoint when a network failure occurs. According to Cloudflare, these reports describe network conditions and may be associated through transient IP processing with a client network, country, and metro area; Cloudflare states that the client IP is held only in volatile memory for the request and is not logged in the NEL pipeline.

This provider-level diagnostic mechanism is separate from application analytics. CompanionScope has not configured an analytics dashboard, advertising measurement, profiling, or a CompanionScope user identifier through NEL.

Processing locations and international transfers

Because Cloudflare operates a global network, technical information may be processed in countries outside France and the European Economic Area rather than in one fixed hosting location. Where European data-protection law treats a transfer as restricted, Cloudflare describes safeguards including the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and, where applicable, the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and supplementary measures. More information is available in Cloudflare's privacy policy and Data Processing Addendum.

Cookies and consent

The current CompanionScope application does not set cookies or use comparable persistent browser identifiers for analytics, advertising, profiling, or personalization. On that current basis, CompanionScope does not display a consent banner. This conclusion must be reviewed before adding any cookie, analytics service, tracker, embedded third-party content, or other technology that stores or accesses information on a visitor's device.

External and affiliate links

When a visitor follows an external link, they leave CompanionScope. The external service may then process information under its own privacy policy and technical configuration. CompanionScope does not claim to know or control each service's individual practices.

Some outbound links are affiliate links. After arrival on the external domain, the partner or affiliate network may use its own technologies to attribute a visit or conversion. CompanionScope does not currently place an affiliate cookie or generate a user identifier before that navigation. More information is available in the Affiliate Disclosure.

Email communications

If someone voluntarily writes to contact@companionscope.com or privacy@companionscope.com, the sender's email address, any name or contact details, message content, and other information voluntarily included in the correspondence may be processed.

Providing this information is voluntary. There is no website account or contractual form that requires it, although CompanionScope may be unable to answer an email without a usable return address or enough information to understand the request.

This information is used to review and respond to the request, manage relevant follow-up, protect the service against abusive or malicious correspondence, and document the handling of privacy or security requests where appropriate. The lawful basis is CompanionScope's legitimate interest in managing correspondence and protecting the service, or compliance with a legal obligation when the message concerns a request that must be handled by law.

Recipients are limited to the operator and the categories of email or technical service providers needed to deliver and secure the correspondence. Information may also be shared with professional advisers or competent authorities where necessary and legally permitted or required.

Correspondence will be kept while the request is being handled and then only for the period reasonably required to document the response, manage a relevant follow-up, dispute, or security issue, or comply with a legal obligation. Routine correspondence will be deleted when those criteria no longer apply; no indefinite retention is intended.

Data protection rights

Depending on the applicable law and circumstances, individuals may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and data portability where applicable. Requests can be sent to privacy@companionscope.com.

Individuals may also lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority. In France, this is the CNIL.

Policy updates

This policy may be updated when the website or its infrastructure changes, including if analytics, cookies, forms, third-party tools, or different hosting arrangements are added. The date at the top of this page will identify the latest published version.
